Consolidation has been the key trend in the Hungarian market over the last years, as operators are looking to optimisetheir portfolios. Digi's acquisition of Invitel creates a much-needed strong third national converged services provider and theexpansion will boost consumer choice as well as the digital economy. The country's second-largest mobile operator, Telenor, sold itsassets to Czech telecoms firm PPF in a deal that's due to be finalised by October. Meanwhile, Vodafone has agreed to purchaseLiberty Global’s cable assets in Hungary as Vodafone is looking to become a stronger converged player across more Europeanmarkets. The Hungarian mobile market is highly saturated and has very little organic growth left and operators are trying tomaximise their revenues from from selling premium services and high-speed data packages to existing clients.
