Hungary Consumer & Retail Q1 2019
Consumer confidence in Hungary is at multi-year highs and is reflected in the strong growth in retail sales. A tighteninglabour market is driving up disposable incomes, which bodes well for consumer spending. Hungary's economy is cooling down andwith it private consumption growth, which is in line with regional trends; however, we expect Hungary to be among the best-performing consumer markets in CEE over our medium-term forecast period. We note rising inflationary and political risks coulddampen consumer demand in the short-to-medium term.
