Hungary Consumer Electronics Q2 2020
The central theme in the Hungarian consumer electronics market over the medium term will be for spending growthbased on rising unit prices, but with weak volume performance envisaged. This is because of the combination of robust purchasingpower growth, which will be driven by rising wages in a tight labour market and forint appreciation, with a mature devices marketand negative demographics. There are downside risks because the economic scenario could be undermined by weaker externaldemand. For instance, in the case of a eurozone recession, the purchasing power outlook could be lowered if investor concernsabout Fidesz policy direction puts the forint on a weaker trajectory against the US dollar.
