Hong Kong Telecommunications Report Q4 2017
BMI View: The Hong Kong telecommunications market continues to perform in line with our forecasts andwe have not made noticeable adjustments to our five-year outlook in the Q417 update. There are fewinvestment opportunities for new players employing traditional business models in Hong Kong. Marketsaturation has driven mobile consolidation and is now impacting the wireline segment, with Hong KongBroadband Network having acquired New World Telecom, and Wharf T&T having been acquired by privateinvestors. The emphasis now is on differentiation through services rather than networks. Multi-playconvergence adoption is accelerating, promising revenue growth, but the addressable market is small andfurther consolidation is inevitable.
