Greece Agribusiness Q4 2018
As the Greek economy finds relative stability going forward, this is reflected in our forecasts for the agribusiness sector, with our forecasts looking broadly positive across the sub-sectors we track, although more so for output than for demand. The onlyexceptions to our positive view across our five-year forecast period are for wheat, milk, sugar (as competition is set to increase in theEU as cheaper sugar becomes available from elsewhere in the region) and butter consumption, as well as for beef production. Wecontinue to see poultry consumption outperforming the livestock complex in terms of both production and consumption due to itslower cost, providing a modest push to corn production towards the end of our forecast period in 2021/22. We expect poultryconsumption to close the gap on, and eventually overtake, beef consumption across the course of our forecast period, with the shiftin the hierarchy taking place in 2021.
