Global Telecommunications Q4 2018
5G mobile broadband networks are beginning to be rolled out in key markets across the world. There will be manyopportunities for vendors of next-generation equipment in both developed and emerging markets, although the enthusiasm ofclients in the operator space will likely be more temperate than was the case with 3G and 4G. The problem is that few compellinguse cases for 5G have been developed, with the enterprise communications and connected home markets best-placed to use thenew technology to its best advantage. That said, enterprises have already tired of waiting for public networks to catch up with theirneeds, and we anticipate new service delivery paradigms to emerge, driven by alternative technologies, such as low-power widearea networking and small cells.
