Ghana Agribusiness Report Q1 2018

Ghana Agribusiness Report Q1 2018

BMI View: Cocoa production in Ghana will improve throughout the coming years after falling in 2017/18 due to significantly lower cocoa prices. However, the sector suffers from key structural issues such as labour shortages and fragmentation, which will prevent the country from overtaking Cote d'Ivoire as the world's largest cocoa producer and exporter. The region's desire for increased processing will also face challenges.
