France Water Report 2015
BMI View: We expect the ongoing expansion of France's highly regulated water sector to continue toreduce pollution levels and lead to a gradual decline in the volumes of water extraction and consumption.
Treatment and sanitation facilities are seeing a particularly large amount of investment as the governmentseeks to repair and modernise aging infrastructure in order to comply with national regulations and EUwater legislation. The efficient and well-organised sector is run by a co-operative combination ofgovernment organisations, regional water agencies, municipal water services and private contractors.
France's water sector has seen many positive changes in recent years, especially as the government hasstriven to attain the high standards of quality and practice laid down by the EU. Developments to theinfrastructure and technology of the sector have resulted in an efficient and productive industry, which inturn is governed by strong and clear regulations. The improvements, however, are ongoing. With muchwork still needed and projects continuing to be initiated, the sector is currently very favourable for investors- a fact that is backed up by favourable legislature and an openness to outside input.
