Ethiopia Infrastructure Q4 2020

Key View:

Ethiopia's construction industry growth in 2020 will be hit hard by immediate coronavirus-related disruptions, includinglabour and materials shortages and short-term investment delays across airport and industrial construction, and we expect growthin 2020 to slow to 3.2% y-o-y. Beyond 2020, however, we expect the stability of Chinese investment in Ethiopia to provide significantsupport for a quick recovery of the latter's construction industry. As Covid-19 is likely to accelerate US and European firms' attemptsto diversify their manufacturing supply chains, we expect Ethiopia's construction industry to benefit significantly from increasedinvestment.
