Egypt Telecommunications Q3 2018
This quarter, we have extended our forecasts for the Egyptian telecoms market from five to 10 years and addedbreakdowns of mobile subscriptions by technology (including separate numbers for 3G and 4G). The overall outlook for the Egyptiantelecoms sector remains positive, however, with significant organic growth prospects still available in the mobile sector, and the 4Gsegment, in particular. We have made some positive forecast revisions to our outlook based on promising market updates from2017. However, while the mobile market has recovered from the losses seen in 2014 and 2015, growth was driven by Vodafone andTE's mobile service, while Orange and Etisalat Misr saw minimal to no growth, respectively. In the coming quarters, we expectoperators to expand their 4G offerings and VAS, but we do not rule out future SIM disconnections. In the wireline and broadbandmarket, recent investments from incumbent TE and virtual licenses for the three mobile operators bode well for the overall market, although we caution that fixed/mobile substitution will continue to play out, while low fixed-broadband speeds make 4G datapackaged a more attractive option.
