Egypt Renewables Q4 2019
Egypt will bring online a high volume of large-scale solar and wind power projects over our 10-year forecast period to2028, as both state-backed and private-sector investors seek to capitalise on the country's significant power potential. However, weforecast growth to slow in the near- to medium term due to a lack of year-round domestic electricity demand. With this in mind, weexpect the country will prioritise investment into new power trading capacity in an effort to tap into a larger international market inthe medium term. Overall, the near-term electricity oversupply will have little net impact on renewables investment over the nextdecade, provided the country can boost domestic consumption and tap into trade with power-scarce markets in Africa.
