Democratic Republic of the Congo Mining Report Q2 2015

BMI View: The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)'s mining sector will continue to attractinternational interest, given the country's vast high-grade mineral reserves. Domestic mining sector growthwill be predominantly driven by new projects and expansions in the country's copper and gold sector. TheDRC's security environment remains a key concern, as political uncertainty and violent unrest in the eastwill hinder investment growth.

New projects coming online and vast untapped mineral deposits will fuel the Democratic Republic ofCongo's (DRC) mining sector growth over the coming years. We forecast DRC's mining industry value togrow from USD4.7 billion (bn) in 2015 to 6.5bn in 2019. This would represent an average growth of 10.9%year-on-year (y-o-y) over 2015-2019.
