Key View:
We retain the view that mobile broadband services and cellular innovation will continue to drive the Czech telecomsmarket. New bundle combinations and bigger data allowances will boost mobile growth, especially LTE take-up. The further roll-outof 5G services hinges on the allocation of additional spectrum. By September 2020, all three MNOs have filed legal complaintsagainst the Czech regulator CTU over the conditions of the upcoming 5G auction for spectrum in the 700MHz and 3.4-3.6GHzbands. The operators’ legal actions increase the risk of the auction suffering a delay, with the award of 5G spectrum having alreadybeen postponed several times in the Czech Republic. The imposition of spectrum caps and the obligation to grant national roamingto new market players are the two conditions being particularly contested by the three MNOs.
