Czech Republic Renewables Q3 2018
The use of non-hydropower renewables is relatively well established in the Czech Republic, predominantly in the form ofbiomass energy which makes up almost 64% of renewables generation and around 6.4% of total electricity generated, howeversince the removal of subsidies the sector has stagnated and very little growth has been achieved since 2015. Wind and solar powerremain in the early stages of development and without any significant incentives to develop new capacity, neither sector is expectedto record significant growth over our forecast period. As a result the Czech Republic will remain reliant upon thermal and nuclearpower.
