Czech Republic Mining Q1 2018

Czech Republic Mining Q1 2018

BMI View: Despite a favourable macroeconomic and business environment, the Czech Republic mining sector is small by Central and Eastern European (CEE) standards, and the industry is set to continue its consolidation through to 2021 due to further mine closures. While the coal mining will stagnate, the Czech Republic signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Australia's European Minerals to develop lithium mining in the village of Cinovec with a view to start mining the mineral as early as 2019.
