BMI View: The overall outlook for the Czech economy and trade sector remains positive. Strong levels ofcompetitiveness and productivity, and a robust manufacturing and industrial base, will provide a steadyboost to trade growth levels over the next five years. The uptick in imports and exports will continue toprovide stable and sustained growth for the country's major freight modes. The manufacturing sector, aswell as increasing levels of iron and steel trade will boost rail freight transport, while the automotive sectorwill help both rail and road freight. Heavy infrastructure investments in national road networks willprovide an additional uptick to freight mode growth over the next five years.

A number of road projects in the Czech Republic will be completed by the end of 2017, both extendingand upgrading the country's highway network and supporting freight transport by road. Around 230km ofhighways are under construction nationally and the government aims to have 80km ready by the end of2017.
