BMI View: Côte d'Ivoire's small oil production is set to see a small boost over the coming two years thanksto project expansions at its two main producing fields. Despite potential in its offshore, more explorationand development efforts will be needed should it maintain crude oil output levels past 2017. While gasproduction is rising slowly, it will be insufficient to meet rising demand. We have decided to include theLNG import option for gas-to-power projects from 2018 onwards, noting downside risks to gasconsumption should the project not start-up on time.
Latest Updates And Key Forecasts
Côte d'Ivoire will need to increase exploration to reverse its long-term decline in oil production. Whilethere is some ongoing exploration, exploration will proceed slowly over the coming quarters. This trendis observable elsewhere in Sub-Saharan Africa, as low oil prices dissuade companies from embarking oncostly deepwater exploration projects.
