Cote d'Ivoire Insurance Q1 2019
We remain positive about the prospects for Côte d'Ivoire’s insurance markets, thanks to the country’s strong economicgrowth outlook - with real GDP set to expand by 10.5% in 2019 - and low inflation. With the West African franc set to appreciateagainst the US dollar over our forecast period, this will feed into double-digit annual growth in both life and non-life premiums in USdollar terms through to 2022, according to our core scenario. The main downside risks to our forecasts are political and securityrisks, in the shape of intra-government tensions surrounding a possible bid by the incumbent president for a third term and a recenthistory of military mutinies, on the back of two civil wars earlier this century.
