Colombia's consumer electronics market returned to growth in 2017 after a sharp contraction 2014-2016 that occurredas the peso depreciated and purchasing power was eroded. The recovery in 2017 will be maintained over the medium term as risingincomes unlock the potential for vendors to tap into relatively low penetration rates, as well as opportunities for a higher value salesmix as the level of consumer affluence increases. The opportunities available in a frontier market, such as Colombia are, however,accompanied by economic risks from external shocks.
