China Oil & Gas Q4 2018

China Oil & Gas Q4 2018

Key View :

China’s bullish gas growth story will have a significant bearing on the global LNG market, as the government’s robustcoal-to-gas switching policies along with a host of other clean-energy initiatives, provide key support to global LNG demand andprices amid a forecast wave of supply-side additions over the coming years. The country's oil demand will also continue to expand, largely to offset declining domestic production and fulfill strategic stockpiling needs, but also as state-owned refiners continue toprocess crude at elevated rates to capitalise on lucrative export opportunities. Rising trade tensions with the US poses minordownside risk to both oil and gas import, though China will not be short of alternative import options in a well-supplied market.
