Canada Power Q1 2018

BMI View: Canada's well-developed power market will register slow growth - both in terms of generation and consumption - over the coming decade. The country will shift away from coal-fired generation towards gas-fired facilities and renewables, which offers opportunities for investors, particularly in Alberta and Saskatchewan. We expect hydropower to remain the largest source of electricity generation, although high costs and public opposition could delay the commissioning of larger projects in this sector.
