Bulgaria Telecommunications Q1 2019
Bulgaria's telecoms sector continues to perform in line with our forecasts, even though the mobile market is saturatedwith very little new organic subscriber growth prospects. Nevertheless, operators are looking to migrate customers from basic topremium services, such as 4G LTE, fibre and pay-TV. The mobile market is due to undergo some changes with Telenor having sold itsBulgarian assets (as well as those in Hungary, Montenegro and Serbia) to Czech-based private investment company PPF Group forEUR2.8bn in August 2018. Five local wireline operators have announced their intention to launch Bulgaria's first MVNO which willadd a new tier of competition. In the wireline market we expect fixed/mobile substitution to continue hampering growth of fixed-voice subscriptions. Despite this, the broadband market will be bolstered by the development of fibre networks by operators.
