The BMI Risk Indices can be used to rank emerging markets in terms ofpolitical risk, the economy and the operational risk environment. Thereare four indices: a composite score, political index, economy index andoperational risk index. These scores are reviewed every month and theresults posted on BMI's online service (www.bmiresearch.com). Thepolitical and economic scores have short- and long-term components. Thelong-term scores are designed to reflect more structural considerationsand will not change greatly in the short term. The short-term scores willchange frequently in response to more transient influences. All scoresare expressed as a number between one and 100. A high score is anindicator of lower risk.
