Key Views

During 2015, Bangladeshi new vehicle sales rose by 20.6% year-on-year (y-o-y), to 55,990 units.

We expect new vehicle sales growth in 2016 of 11.5%, as macroeconomic conditions remain strong.

The motorcycle segment remains dominant in the autos sector and we expect to continue over 2016-2020.

Used cars still account for most car purchases, showing that new cars are too expensive for most people.

Threats to our optimistic auto-sector forecasts come from deteriorating global economic conditions, aswell as a rising domestic terrorism threat from Daesh.
