Austria Renewables Report Q2 2018
After several years of robust expansion, growth in Austria's renewables sector is expected to slow over the forecastperiod which now stretches to 2027. Weak consumption growth of less than 1% annually will limit investor interest in the market, aswill low wholesale electricity prices and the upcoming reductions in the feed in tariffs for wind power in 2018 and 2019. As a resultthe project pipeline in the renewables sector is slim, underpinning our forecasts for slow growth in capacity and generation. Wehighlight some upside risk from two key factors: the ongoing phasing out of coal-fired generation and potential for price increases, following the uncoupling of Austria's electricity bidding network from Germany.
