Consumer electronics device spending in Austria is forecast to increase at a CAGR of 2.7% over the medium term,2020-2024, to a total of USD4.3bn. The market is mature with widespread ownership in the major product categories, limitingmedium term growth potential in the smartphone, TV set and PC markets. The most dynamic area of the market will thereforebe newer product categories such as wearables, smart assistants and AR/VR devices. Both replacement device purchases andadoption of new technologies will benefit from purchasing power growth as wages rise and the euro appreciates. The principaldownside risk is for Austria's economic growth trajectory to be lowered as a result of deterioration in eurozone growth, a disorderlyBrexit or negative spillover from the US-China trade war.
