Austria is a high-value consumer electronics market in per capita terms where the affluence of local consumers supportsstrong demand for premium bands and flagship models. Device ownership is widespread in all major product categories, such asPCs, TV sets and smartphones. This maturity means that growth potential is limited because vendors will rely on upsellingreplacement purchases in order to generate higher sales. There is some upside in the development of newer product categories,including AR/VR and wearables, but economic risks are generally to the downside in the scenario where European economicrecovery is derailed by external events, such as a disorderly Brexit or a change in the business cycle in the US or China.
