Australia is on course to surpass Qatar by 2019 to become the world's leading exporter of LNG, supported by outputfrom 21 LNG trains across 10 liquefaction terminals in Western Australia, Northern Territory and Queensland. LNG growth down theline will be increasingly driven by brownfield expansion works at these projects, as high cost, regulatory barriers andgrowing international competition erode the appetite for costly newbuilds. The investment shift towards natural gas and LNG will benegative for the domestic crude oil sector, deepening the country's already heavy reliance on imports to meet steadily risingdemand for fuels.
