Each Asian telecoms market is at a different stage of development, each requiring different investment strategies. Lowconsumer spending power is the primary challenge for operators in developing markets, while saturation is forcing operators indeveloped markets to focus on convergence. Premium 3G and 4G mobile broadband services quickly succumbed to pricecompetition wrought by new entrants and it seems likely that 5G will follow suit unless new business models emerge over the nexttwo to three years. Nevertheless, pricing strategies will likely remain highly competitive and will not be conducive to profit growthand return on investment.
