Grains production growth will outperform soybean over the next two years in Argentina, due to the major policy shiftfrom the new government led by President Mauricio Macri and droughts hampering the soybean crop. Argentina will strengthen itsshare of the export market in the grains and soybean segments over the next five years, as a weak peso increases the country'scompetitiveness. Other sectors will strongly benefit from export opportunities, including beef. With regard to trade, a totalbreakdown of NAFTA could benefit Argentine farmers as a weak currency and more favourable export policies could lead tostronger trade opportunities with Mexico. China could either materially increase or reduce purchases of soybean from Argentina, depending on the result of ongoing trade negotiations between the US and China.
