A number of factors will support rising food and drink sales in Algeria. The country is home to a large population of closeto 44mn, including a significant young adult contingent, and more than 70% of the population lives in urban areas which helps tomake this an accessible market. Private consumption is trending upwards, supported by some employment and wage growth, andthis will translate to growth in food and drink spending. We note, however, that average household income rates remain low, limitingspending power and modern grocery retail infrastructure is underdeveloped outside of major towns and cities.
