Learning Management Systems (LMSs) are software platforms that enable the delivery, management, and administration of e-learning and training throughout an organization. Organizations that implement an LMS can achieve a number of significant benefits, such as convenience and cost savings compared to traditional classroom learning, the opportunity to personalize the learning experience, and the ability to collaborate and share knowledge within an organization. LMS implementations, however, are complex and require buy-in at a number of levels within an organization, can be hampered by bandwidth limitations, and may pose cultural challenges within an organization. This report will consider the benefits and costs of LMS, and recommend strategies for maximizing benefits while minimizing costs.
