Countries covered: Europe
This IDC Update covers the Western European small and medium-sized business (SMB) sector in 3Q09, with a focus on new products and services, initiatives, partnerships, and agreements. During 3Q09, we have seen storage solutions, telecommunications offerings, and software-as-a-service (SaaS) developments in areas that ICT vendors have shown strong interest in, and have thus targeted as segments in which to develop their customer base. In the storage space competition is increasing, as storage solutions become more commoditized, and as the economic crisis compels many companies to postpone hardware investments. Hardware vendors are thus decreasing prices on one hand, and on the other, attaching services that can improve customer satisfaction and loyalty, and give them higher margins.
