This IDC study presents data from and an analysis of IDC's 2008 Consumer Markets: Audio Survey, fielded in October and November 2008. The document provides an examination of survey responses related to home audio device ownership and purchase intention. "Device vendors and retailers need to get more creative with home audio technologies, in particular A/V receiver, sound bar speakers, and home networked audio devices, to demonstrate their value to consumers and thereby drive demand and revenue. Avenues include better and more ubiquitous hands-on demos at retail, information about mixing and matching home theater technologies for optimum listening and viewing experience, and also further new paradigm development such as receiver integration in sound bar speaker systems." — Susan Kevorkian, program director, Digital Marketplace
