Expanding broadband Internet coverage is a priority for emerging markets’ governments, but the cost of a PC remains a barrier. Many PC alternatives exist, but a cut-down or “brain-dead” device alone is not the answer. Web services will be an essential part of the solution because they stress onboard resources less than a full PC and allow affordable price points.
