This IDC Buyer Case Study discusses the unique challenges Lush encountered and the results it was able to achieve once it decided to overhaul its IT infrastructure. The purpose of this document is to help end-user organizations apply the challenges and successes of the retailer to their own businesses. The Buyer Case Study provides users with an overview of ongoing efforts undertaken by Lush, a self-described multinational fresh handmade cosmetics supplier, to improve the quality of its financial reporting by improving data collection and integration efforts. The document utilizes a case study approach to provide insight into Lush's quest to better align the business with IT. The information used in this case study was extracted from an interview with Mike Coulter, an IT director with Lush based in Vancouver, and public sources. The case study has been supplemented by publicly available information and IDC's broad foundation of research. IDC Canada interviews hundreds of end users annually on a variety of subjects, including the use of infrastructure as well as application development and deployment software offerings, corporate priorities, and overall buying preferences.
