This Excel-based Data-rich Deliverable (DRD) that is part of the Manufacturing subscription includes market intelligence on IT: Personnel expenditures by level for the Manufacturing vertical. Compass Intelligence defines IT personnel as expenditures on internal staffing, part-time and full-time, within a firm's IT department. Manufacturing includes establishments engaged in the mechanical or chemical transformation of materials or substances into new products. Size of business includes SOHO (1-4 employees), Small Business (5-99 employees), Mid-Sized Business (100-999 employees), and Enterprise Business (Over 1000 employees). Process Manufacturing includes establishments engaged in the type of manufacturing where a product is produced or transformed through mixing, chemical reactions, etc. Examples of process manufacturing would be refining crude oil into gasoline, extracting copper from ore, combining materials to make paint. Discrete Manufacturing includes establishments engaged in manufacturing of distinct items (items you can easily count, touch, see) such as a pencil, a light bulb, a telephone, a bicycle, a fuel pump, etc. Discrete as opposed to process manufacturing.
