All the month's top business stories in headline and summary form

Insight into the structure and competitive position of a key company

Report Highlights
Driven by consumer interest in diet-friendly foods, Coca Cola is one of a handful of manufacturers capitalizing on the profitability of smaller size portions. While demand clearly exists among the health conscious for such offerings, the majority of consumers still equate quantity with value and profits from downsizing may prove hard to come by.

General Motors has announced its intention to buy South African vehicle importer and manufacturer Delta Motor Corp. If the purchase goes ahead, GM is likely to start manufacturing vehicles in S. Africa, largely for export. The takeover marks a step in GM's drive for growth, yet if it is to meet its target it must prioritize product improvements.
