With €600 million ($577 million) in 2000, French online sales have not yet taken off versus other European markets. As shopping sites offer information, and users today mostly buy low consideration goods, only two or three general comparison sites will survive in the B-to-C segment. To boost online sales, retailers and portals must offer comprehensive and factual comparison services. There is an opportunity for comparison destination sites to shift to the B-to-B sector.
