AbstractCurrently, only a low number of patients are presenting for or being referred for osteoporosis testing. However, there are several opportunities available for manufacturers of HRT, SERMs and bisphosphonate to drive sales of their products for the primary indication of osteoporosis prevention. A variety of possible strategies will help achieving this aim, including providing increased volumes of clinical trial data supporting osteoporosis prevention, patient as well as physician education, and subsidizing either the purchase of DEXA scanning machines or the patient’s first DEXA scan. Strategic Perspectives 2001: Menopausal Disorders and Osteoporosis provides an in-depth evaluation of osteoporosis and menopausal disorders epidemiology, current market dynamics, recommended company strategies and major pipeline products and forecasts the performance of key drugs to 2008.
