Abstract

This IDC study explores adoption of mobile applications by small and medium-sized businesses, as well as vendor opportunities. IDC's 2009 SMB Mobility IT Decision-Maker Survey sought insight from respondents in the United States and Western Europe (represented by Germany and the United Kingdom) on their company's device, software, operator, and channel preferences.

"The proliferation of CMDs — and their associated application stores — is raising SMB decision-maker awareness of the productivity benefits of mobile applications," asserts Timothy Doherty, associate research analyst, SMB Markets: Mobility. "While uncertain economic decisions may stay the hands of some businesses, others are keying in on mobile applications that offer an ROI."
