Abstract

The London 2012 Olympics provide a unique opportunity for UK-based and international software and IT services (SITS) providers to participate in the world’s highest-profile sports event, while benefitting from the unprecedented level of publicity and business potential that its involvement will offer. Not least of all is the potential for lucrative contracts with the Olympic sponsors. Ovum estimates that over £500 million of SITS business will be available to win. This report builds on Ovum’s ongoing research into the major events market, and should be read in conjunction with the existing Ovum report, “Major events: an emerging opportunity for IT services providers”, (April 2009).
