Abstract

This IDC Insight presents our views on Dell's acquisition of Perot Systems. On September 10, 2009, Perot Systems held an analyst event in London where it outlined its strategy for growth in Europe. IDC participated, and was just about to publish its comments on this, when on September 21 it was announced that Dell would acquire Perot Systems. We have therefore expanded our comments in the light of this acquisition.

This Insight looks at what Dell is actually getting from the acquisition of Perot Systems. It answers the questions "What is Perot's position in Europe?" and "What are the strengths and weaknesses as well as the challenges that the new Dell services unit faces to create growth in Europe?"
