AbstractSerbia’s consumer electronics devices market is estimated at around US$1.1bn in 2009. In H109 retailindicators suggested a continued slowdown in domestic demand, with signs of lower consumerconfidence persisting from Q408. Computer and mobile handset sales dipped into negative year-on-year(y-o-y) growth territory.Following a contraction this year, demand is forecast to increase at a 2009-2013 CAGR of 8.1% toUS$1.5bn by 2013, driven by the growing popularity of digital lifestyle products like LCD TV sets,notebook computers and digital cameras. The current trading environment is challenging, but we projectthat per capita consumer electronics spend will grow 34% to an estimated US$149 by 2013. Computers Computer hardware accounted for around 42% of Serbia’s consumer electronics spending in 2008 and will continue to be the largest product segment. Following a double-digit decline in shipments inH109, BMI estimates Serbia’s addressable computer market (including notebooks and accessories) at US$444mnin 2009. Computer hardware CAGR for the 2009-2013 period is forecast at about 8.2%, driven by sales of notebooks, hich account for around one-third of sales. AV Devices AV devices accounted for around 36% of Serbia’s consumer electronics spending in 2008. The Serbian domestic AV device market is projected at US$402mn in 2009. Despite an expected growthslowdown in 2009, a CAGR of 6.2% is projected for 2008-2013, due largely to growth in the digital TV set category. Mobile Handsets Mobile handset sales accounted for around 22% of Serbia’s consumer electronics spending in 2008. Serbia’smarket handset sales are expected to grow at a CAGR of 11% to US$345mn in 2013, as official mobile subscriberpenetration reaches 175%.
