AbstractPoland’s consumer electronics devices market is estimated at around US$6.3bn in 2009. This is expectedto increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.2% to US$8.1bn by 2013, driven by thegrowing popularity of digital lifestyle products such as feature-rich mobile PCs, LCD TV sets, and digitalcameras and by rising incomes and lower prices.Consumer spending took a negative turn in H109, with a contraction reported in many core productgroups including mobile handsets, TV sets and desktops. Relief will come from demand for premiumproducts such as flat-screen TV sets and smartphones, both of which continued to show growth in H109. Computers Computer hardware accounted for around 51% of Poland’s consumer electronicsspending in 2008, with demand from key verticals such as government andmilitary. BMI forecasts Poland’s domestic market PC sales of US$2.6bn in2009. Computer hardware CAGR for the 2009-2013 period is forecast at about9.9%, driven by demand for notebooks and netbooks. AV Devices AV devices accounted for around 32% of Poland’s consumer electronics spendingin 2008. Poland’s domestic AV device market is projected at US$2.1bn in 2009. Due to declining total sales of video products, a CAGR of 0.5% is projectedfor 2009-2013, despite continued growth in the flat-screen TV set category in H109. Mobile Handsets Mobile handset sales accounted for around 17% of Poland’s consumerelectronics spending in 2008. Polish market handset sales are expected togrow at a CAGR of 4.8% to US$1.3bn in 2013, as mobile subscriber penetrationreaches 135%.
