AbstractHungary’s consumer electronics devices market is estimated at around US$2.4bn in 2009. Following asharp deceleration this year, spending is expected to grow at a CAGR of 3.5% to US$2.8bn by 2013,driven by the popularity of digital lifestyle products such as LCD TV sets, and notebook computers, andby lower prices and more flexible credit terms.Growth will be slower compared with the preceding five years, due to a weak economy. AV Devices AV devices accounted for around 33% of Hungary’s consumer electronicsspending in 2008. Hungary’s domestic AV device market is estimated atUS$764mn this year. Demand for flat screen TV sets will be a main driver of a2009-2013 AV spending CAGR of 3.4%, as Hungary moves towards digitalbroadcasting, and video devices such as TV sets, digital cameras and VCRplayers account for above 80% of demand. Mobile Handsets Mobile handset sales accounted for around 11% of Hungary’s consumerelectronics spending in 2008. Hungary’s market handset sales are expected togrow at a 2009-2013 CAGR of 2.7% to US$329mn in 2013, as mobile subscriberpenetration reaches 143%.
