AbstractCroatia’s consumer electronics devices market, defined as the addressable market for computing devices,mobile handsets and AV products, is projected to increase at a CAGR of 5.7% to US$1.3bn by 2013,driven by the growing popularity of digital lifestyle product like flat screen TV sets, notebooks and digitalcameras, and by rising incomes and lower prices.Vendors will continue to face a challenging environment in 2009, with negative overall spending growthprojected. Growth is forecast to remain below-trend in 2010, with just 2% growth. However, BMIexpects per capita consumer electronics spend to grow from an estimated US$237 in 2009 to US$297 by2013, as a result of revived economic growth from 2010. Computers Computer hardware accounted for around 62% of Croatian consumer electronicsspending in 2008, but volume sales were down around 20% in H109. BMIforecasts Croatian domestic market computer sales (including notebooks andaccessories) of US$516mn this year. Computer hardware CAGR for the 2009-2013 period is forecast at about 6.2%, driven by sales of notebooks and netbooks. AV AV devices accounted for around 23% of Croatian consumer electronics spendingin 2008. The Croatian domestic AV device market was estimated atUS$261mn. Following a sharp slowdown in 2009, a CAGR of around 2.1% isprojected for 2009-2013, due largely to continued growth in the digital TV set category. Mobile Handsets Mobile handset sales accounted for around 15% of Croatian consumerelectronics spending in 2008. Croatian market handset sales are expected togrow at a CAGR of 8.6% to US$232mn in 2013, as mobile subscriber penetrationreaches 161%.
