Abstract

This IDC study presents additional results from IDC's Forecast for Management Survey, 2009, specifically regarding skills and staffing in ICT departments.

"Amidst the gloomy reports we read daily about the state of the economy, it could be very easy to forget that a big part of a CIO's job is making sure the ICT organisation is ready to act on any opportunity to make a difference in the business and have effective strategies in place ready to implement as soon as the end of the recession is in sight. Savvy CIOs will be using this time to ensure they have a strategy focused on recruiting, retaining, and reskilling ICT talent for a solid ICT staffing foundation when the economy recovers," says Melissa Martin, senior market analyst, IT Spending and Vertical Markets, IDC Australia.
