Abstract

The 'Tomorrow' series of reports deliver ademographic and socio economic blue print of thefuture for over 71 countries, providing allthe facts necessary to make informed businessdecisions about strategies for the future.

This report compares the future demographic andsocio economic profiles of the affluent countries inAsia. That is, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, SouthKorea and Taiwan. While they have somesimilarities in that they are all older and moreaffluent populations the rate of development,employment and education profile and distributionby income do differ and have implications for thefuture opportunities for a range of products and services.

The purpose of this report is to help strategicplanners identify the relative potential of thesecountries and where they should focus theirresources over the next decade. The report givesprojections of the demographics (age, households,household structure, lifecycle profile, employmentprofile) and socio-economics (Household income,and distribution of households by income) throughto 2029.

This report is underpinned by an extensivehistorical database from 1990 to 2007, and aproprietary forecasting model which uses historicalrelationships to forecast to 2029.
