Abstract

This IDC update highlights significant events in the PC market in August. The notebook market is overtaking the desktop market in shipments this year on a worldwide basis. Though overall PC shipments are down compared with previous forecasts, notebook shipment growth is on the rise. Mininotebooks are a big influence on that rise, but there are subtleties in the various screen sizes. Highlights from August look at some of those subtleties:
